Handy Matt in Action: Real Homes, Real Results

My client was looking to utilize this unused dry bar area and turn it into a home office. I demoed the cabinets, re-finished the drywall, painted, installed a custom white floating desk, installed cable ports with grommets and attached an under desk cable management/power strip, and installed a new strip of carpet.

My client wanted to mount their TV on the wall in order to have better access to their record player. I mounted this 55″ TV to the wall, ran a code-compliant outlet to power the TV, installed a cable grommet outlets for cable management and to hide the cables.

My client wanted to remove unnecessary double downspouts, replace leaky gutters, and improve their home’s drainage with a more effective solution.

My client wanted to update this space and convert it into a home gym. I removed the old carpet and trim, installed new LVP flooring and trim, and added gym flooring in the weight area. I also assembled, positioned, and securely anchored all of the exercise equipment.

I built and installed a custom gate out of red cedar, made to last and look great. Cedar is naturally strong and weather-resistant, so this gate not only does the job but it’s a simple upgrade that’s sturdy, reliable, and easy on the eyes.

This project involved restoring an aged wood-sided garage that had years of peeling paint and surface wear. The process began with a full surface preparation — pressure washing, scraping, filling, sanding, and cleaning the wood to remove old layers of paint and ensure proper adhesion. After prepping, the siding was primed with a high-quality exterior primer to seal and protect the wood, followed by two coats of durable exterior paint for a smooth, lasting finish. A custom window sill was added to restore function and seal the exterior.

The transformation brought new life to the structure, turning a weathered exterior into a crisp, clean, and fully protected surface that will stand up to Minnesota’s seasons.

This project focused on improving the look and durability of an existing set of concrete block steps. New PVC trim was installed along the base of the door threshold to create a clean, finished transition between the siding and the step surface.

After installing the trim, all seams and edges were sealed to prevent moisture intrusion and weather damage. The finished result gives the entryway a sharper, more professional appearance while protecting the materials from future wear.

This project involved a full rebuild of a paver walkway that had settled unevenly and developed poor drainage over time. The existing pavers were removed, the base was regraded for proper water flow, and paver edging was installed to lock the pavers in place and prevent shifting.

After rebuilding and compacting the walkway, decorative river rock was added along both sides, along with steel edging, to improve drainage and give the path a clean, finished look. The result is a sturdier, longer-lasting walkway with improved water management and curb appeal.
